In this issue of the Breeze you’ll find an introduction to our first chapter meeting which is also our annual joint meeting with our friends from ASPE. Our Technical Session will be on “Rainwater Harvesting”by Robert O’Donnell. Seems like great timing with the recent drought fresh in our minds. As the industry pushes for more sustainable building designs, water conservation is becoming more important to our customers than it has been in the past.

The 5th Annual KC ASHRAE Putt Putt Pub Crawl is Thursday, September 27th. The event gets better every year, so be sure to get registered before space fills up. We will be raffling off one team entry at our first 2012-2013 chapter meeting. The entry is for a team of four and includes drinks, appetizers and prizes. To get your name in the hat, you need to “Like” the “Kansas City ASHRAE” Facebook page. We are going to be using Facebook as another way of keeping you informed about upcoming chapter activities.

Blake believes that strong chapter programs are important to keeping our chapter successful. Blake also believes in the technical side of ASHRAE, submitting projects for ASHRAE Technology Awards and participating on several ASHRAE Technical Committees. Blake’s chapter accomplishments were highlighted by solid fundraising when he led the ASHRAE Research drive, exceeding goal by more than 10%. His presidential year focused on maintaining the attendance at the meetings and the chapter’s balance in the bank account along with a goal to increase YEA involvement. Blake is excited with the direction of the chapter, especially with two chapter committees starting last year: Sustainability and YEA.
